What's the meaning of that song?

downloadHow many of us actually understand the meaning of the songs that we listen to? I’m talking about gospel songs now and not "Kukure" or "Oliver Twist." Do we take time to understand and search for the deep meanings behind these great songs that lead us into God’s presence?

Not until recently, I was a victim of just singing songs without really knowing the depth from which the writer wrote the song. I know songs minister to each of us in different ways but until we understand the depth and source of a song, we will always be missing out on something extremely important.

That is why I've created a new segment/page on this blog called “Song Meanings”. But I’m going to need your help. Here is how it works.

images1)      Every week, I’ll post the lyrics of a song that’s well known. (I’ll also post the song)

2)      You, (readers) will then leave comments under the post/song, telling others what your personal understanding of the song is. Regardless of how limited you feel your opinion is, please share it. Everyone’s opinion is needed.

3)      That’s it!

How will this be helpful? A great way. We all share various understanding of various songs but this will be an avenue where we can all learn from one another and more importantly grow in God TOGETHER!

So, get excited and get involved! The first song is coming up soon.

  5. There is this song that was released during Calabar Carnival..."small girl, I am giving you the thing...I will give it to you all night long"....the song sounded weird to me. few days ago, I heard a five year old sing it, and she was so serious. I googled the song, only to see a story where the song artist said the song is a gospel song...I was shocked.
