That "Long Distance" Thing ......

imagesRelationships are difficult enough as they are. Now add "long distance" to a relationship and it seems almost impossible to make it work. Can a long distance relationship really work? This is a really deep question and if you are looking for answers, well, I hope I don't leave you more confused after reading this.

Personally, relationships scare the geez out of me. I mean, if I have any fear at all in this world, it has to do with relationships and marriages. You simply need God's grace and wisdom. My experience with long distance relationships has been two-folded. I've seen it work out greatly for some people and I've seen it leave some people broken. So, yes it can work..... if you want it to... But, how do you make a long-distance relationship work?

2012 Is Ending...... : Keep The Faith!

imagesFirst, I must apologize for my absence. As you all might know, it is exam season and so I've been busy with school. As the year draws to an end, I've found myself refelecting on this year and how everything worked out (or not.) What made 2012 different from 2011? What did I gain and what did I lose? Have you been doing some reflecting also?

I'm sure there are people thinking "oh well, there goes another year and I'm still stuck in the same spot." "Is this how this year will end? And God will still not answer my prayers?" So many questions in our hearts, for the goals that were not accomplished and the dreams left unfulfilled. So what do you do? 2013 is fast approaching, where do you go from here?

Etiquette Of A Woman - Part 2 "I Don't Like It When ......"

Today's piece, "I Don't Like It When ..", is the Part 2 of my series "Etiquette of A Woman". If you have not seen part one, click here

For today's piece, I asked various men from different backgrounds, specific things they do not like about the general appearance of a lady.

The question was "What is it about a lady's appearance that turns you off?" Well, lets just say be careful what you wish for, because you just might get it. Here are the answers I got.

"Make up! Geezz I hate excessive makeup. Moreover, black girls don't blush, so why do they add that stuff on their face? Also, this common multi-colored rubber slippers in Nigeria - Oh Gosh, I hate that too." - Demola Ade

"The way they lock their hands up at the back, on their bum, maybe to hide away panty lines. I hate it, If you know you are wearing a pant with obvious panty lines, change it or something." - Adebisi Adeyemi

"I hate the public display of a woman's behind. The way women wear trousers and consciously or inadvertently show the middle line of their bums" e.g on Bike of while walking. (especially when they have stretch marks!) Oh, I also hate fake eye lashes." - Tolulope Fash

"In the UK, it's more in the summer, I call it the summer effect. Every lady just wants to reveal everything, all in the name of 'its hot'. Moderation during that time is like 20%. Very very skimpy shorts and breast revealing tops. It's just too much." - Duke Abodunrin

All I can say is THANK YOU JESUS! I never would have made it without you.

I'm thankful for this blog, for everyone that is being blessed by it and every who reads.

I'm thankful for the gift of life, for God's unending grace upon my family and friends.

I'm thankful because God has erased my past.

I'm thankful for food, clothing. shelter, peace of mind.

I'm thankful that you are alive and you can read and comprehend this right now.

"Nonsense! Who does she think she is sef? Walking around as if she is better than everybody else .. mschewww..." "Madam ITK, always acting as if she knows everything" "Why must she have everything? Why does she always get the best? Her boyfriend is so ugly ..mschewww"

"That guy sha, he drives the best of cars and has ladies around him all the time. Why? He does not even work as hard as I do" "He does not deserve it." "I'm sure he did money rituals .. his success is not normal.."

"I hate her! I hope she falls down and dies!"

Do any of these statements sound familiar to you? Maybe not in the exact way in which the statement is written, but you get the gist right? You know what I'm talking about, JEALOUSY.

Let me tell you a story.

"From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother's womb, I will EVER praise you." Psalm 71:6.

I praise God for adding another year to my life. It's not because I've been faithful, and neither is it because I am the best; it is just by His grace and His grace alone.

I'm most grateful for all your love, support, prayers and blessings. I've been blessed through you and I hope and pray that God will continually use me for His glory. Please leave a comment after the cut and let me know what you think of the video.

Dr Sid & Nonso Diobi Star In - "Last Three Digits" Upcoming Movie

The Last Three Digits is a movie produced by Moses Inwang and Padita Agu. It was directed by Moses Inwang and it stars Nonso Diobi, Dr SID, and Padita Agu. Dr SID (Sidney Onoriode Esiri) is an artiste on the Mavin Records music label, and he is also the son of veteran actor, Justus Esiri.

The movie was shot on location in Lagos, and the UK.  It also features Bimbo Manuel, Rachel Oniga, Abiola Atanda (Madam Kofo), Yemi Blaq, Moyo Lawal, and Kevin Ikeduba. How much trouble can one get into for dialing a wrong number? To what length would a man go to find his lost love? The story of The Last Three Digits centers on a young man (Alex) and his search for Audrey after their chance, brief meeting (after many years) saw her give him incomplete phone digits.

In desperation, Alex begins to input random three digits, a spree that saw him calling all kinds of people, in all parts of the world. A fatal dialing lands him in the den of a violent gang, where he nearly died.

On his rescue, Alex resumes work, and is faced with the tumbling experience of discovering that the company was owned by Audrey’s father!
His joy is restored – but only for a brief moment – as Audrey is now engaged to Marvin, the swanky, lascivious, gold-digging marauder who ran the company.
Having come so close, it was another blow to the depths for Alex, as he is unable to pick up the pieces of his life and move past the disappointments. Is there an end to his trauma?

Will God Ever Forgive Me? Father Can You Hear Me?

In a few days, November 16 to be precise, it's going to be my birthday. While I'm excited about it, a better part of me has spent the past few days reflecting on this past year and I realized that the question that I struggled with most this past year was "Will God Ever Forgive me?"

How many of you can relate to this question?

On various occasions this year, I asked God whether he would ever forgive me for the stupid things I did, the mistakes I made and the wrong steps that I took. I remember where I was this time last year, what I was doing and what was going on in my life.

I vividly remember the struggles I was facing and how determined I was not to make the same mistakes again. Now, a year later I feel not only disappointed in myself but also ashamed.

With tears rolling down my cheeks, I write this piece.........

The Fear Factor....What Are You Afraid Of?

"Sometimes the things we fear the most, we need not fear at all. " (from the Ghanaian movie - Ties That Bind)

Growing up, most kids are afraid of the dark and the ghost that lies in the closet or that horrible thing that is hidden under the bed. But it seems as if the more we grow, the greater our fears become. We all have different fears; the fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of death and many more.

It’s natural to have fears; after all, we are human. However, the question on my mind is why do we fear what we fear? If nothing happens to us without the knowledge of God or without his permission, then why should we fear anything?

I believe we fear the things that we are afraid to trust God with. We fear things that are very important to us, yet beyond our control.

THE TOILET THAT FLUSHES ITSELF......another embarrassing moment

Hey guys! So for the past few weeks, the conversation on this blog has been quite intense and serious, I thought I'd lighten up the mood by sharing with you guys another embarrassing moment of mine. If you have not read the initial one, click here Most Embarrassing Moment

I was studying for the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) and my Dad decided that the best place to study was at a public library (because all I did at home was watch TV), so my Dad drove me to the library and left me there with my books, snacks and drinks. Ok, let me do a small flash back so that you can better understand the story.

What Does Sex Have To Do With It? The Men Speak.......

My dear readers, this is one post you do not want to miss reading. These men answer the question "What Does Sex Have To Do With It?" and they hold NOTHING back! They tell it exactly the way it is.

The ladies have spoken, now it's men's turn to share their wisdom with us.

These 3 men are very good friends of mine who are God fearing, single, and successful in their chosen fields; they are young men who definitely know what they are talking about.  Here is what they had to say.

Nollywood Producer, Charles Novia Reacts to Tonto Dike's Music

Tonto's Terrible Tremolo by - Charles Novia
Below is a statement made by the popular Nollywood Movie Producer, Charles Novia, regarding Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh's Music:
"I have restrained myself for a couple of years from commenting on Tonto Dike's career after my last comments about her role in the soft porn movie she acted in two years back, were badly taken by her and she went on twitter to hurl infantile insults on my person with expletives and uncomplimentary remarks. My reaction to such then was just a dignified silence. After all, I had already spoken on her stunted talent as an up and coming actress and further comments on her incensed tweets were unnecessary. All through the past few hours, the social media networks have been abuzz with the new singles of actress, Tonto Dike. She seems to have joined the actors of her ilk who have the moonlighting itch to delve into singing. While no one can stop such an ambition by those artistes, I do think those who surround such artistes are their worst enemies if they can't tell them the truth about leaving their sometimes doubtful day job.
Well, I will! I listened to Miss Dike's two singles a few minutes ago and my initial speechlessness morphed to a nagging laughter and then subsided into a befuddled anguish. I'm a music label owner (November Records) and have produced and Executive Produced acts like Majek Fashek, Terry tha Rapman, Zubby Enebeli etc. I know much about music and the slant of commercial music. But after listening to Miss Dike's songs, I'm inclined to align with the majorly negative comments about them on cyberspace. Ah-ah! Whoever produced her knew she has a bad voice for singing and masked our listening torture with the Autotune effect. But even the Autotune rejected any attempt to make a bad voice worse and Miss Dike came out sounding like she was in mid-stream orgasm instead of singing! Her anguished tremolos would have been better reserved for a horror movie sound effect than an attempt at joining the revered profession of music. If Omotola got away with her last two terrible attempts at singing, it was because Omotola is a fantastic actress and her fans could forgive her musical failings after backtracking her body of work in Nollywood. With Tonto, I can't say much either for her acting depth. She's a one-dimensional actress in my opinion, who mistakes notoriety for fame. She needs more training in acting and this I say with all sense of professionalism as a movie Director. She might achieve greater heights in acting if she trains more. But she has no heights to achieve in singing. Only a downward plunge, the stuff bad endings in movies are made of."

"Big Daddy" An Amaka Igwe Short Film on Rape

Nollywood Actress Stella Damasus, Releases New Single; "Love Me Quick"

Hours after Ms. Tonto Dikeh released her "singles", Nollywood Icon, Ms. Stella Damasus followed suit by releasing her own music titled "Love Me Quick". Did I miss the memo? Is it the "in thing" to venture into music now? Are we not satisfied with singing in our bathrooms any more?

While I don't necessarily approve of this sudden interest in music by Nollywood Actresses, I think Stella Damasus's music is still far better than those that have come before it. It's simple, plain and classic. (Did I mention no autotune?). Listen (below) to her and Judge for yourself.

What Does Sex Have To Do With It? The Ladies Speak...

I asked these ladies and myself a question, "What has sex got to do with it?". These ladies are Christ believing ladies whose values and foundation are rooted deeply in the word of God.

Neither of us is married, so we understand the struggles that comes with been a devoted christian in this day and age.

Here is what we all had to say.

Do you already have a Child (Children)? Are You A Mother? - Rev. Mrs. Funke-Felix Adejumo

"I Shall Not Labor In Vain" - this is the last message that I will be posting, for now. But definitely one that you will want to listen to. I urge you to listen to the first 5 minutes, you will not want to stop. Don't miss out on this.

This audio is a prayer session from a recent Womens' Summit that was conducted by Rev. Mrs. Funke-Felix Adejumo (see the picture). The summit was held at HarvestHouse Christian Center, Ibadan and I have to tell you that this session was powerful. Now, I'm neither married nor do I have children but I prayed those prayers just as hard. Who says I can't pray into my future?

So, even if you are not married, you can still listen to it, keep an eye on your future home, and send the word of God to go ahead of you.

Her Necessary Evil - Part 2

“ok, so she’s not pretty but she seems polite”, he thought to himself. The winter graduation ceremonies were scheduled to take place on the 8th and 9th of December at the Grand music Hall, Edinburgh. Graduating students from the colleges of Arts, Humanities and Edinburgh Business School were scheduled for the 1st day while students in faculties of Engineering, Physical and Biological Sciences were to have their ceremonies on the 2nd day.

Her Necessary Evil - by M'aDe

It was around 5:00 am when she strolled tiredly into the departure lounge of the international airport in Frankfurt. Expectedly, she was exhausted from the long flight from Lagos to Frankfurt and the endless immigration checks further compounded her fatigue. as she wheeled her trolley across the hallway, she saw him sitting there, legs crossed with his head bowed. he seemed to be meditating until she realized that he was fiddling with is phone..a blackberry bold.

"Very typical", she thought. A brown jacket lay on the chair by his side and on the floor beside his feet was a brown sturdy luxury briefcase..He wore a pair of tight blue jeans, a blue and white striped shirt with sleeves hand-folded to the elbow. As she approached him, he looked up, glanced at her and watched her as she proceeded to sit adjacent to him.

"Hello", she greeted.

"Hi", he replied and smiled.

Bridge of Hope - Nigerian Movie

This is a movie about a young lady who lost her family members to the cold arms of death. While she was mourning, she met a lovely man and fell in love. However, their joy lasted only for a while because she found out she was pregnant three months before their wedding.
This movie is a must watch. Watch my review of the movie below.

Pay $20,000 And Determine the sex of your child…..

So I was reading this article the other day and it talked about how you can pay twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to determine the sex of your child; you determine whether you want a boy or a girl. Now, before I tell you what I think of this absurd procedure, here is how it works:

  • Several eggs are extracted from the mother by doctors, sperm is supplied by the father.

  • The father's sperm is used to fertilize the mother's eggs.

  • After 3 days, several 8-cell embryos will have developed.

  • Specialists examine the genetic makeup of the embryos, screening for both genetic diseases and desired gender.

  • Healthy embryos of the gender you desire are implanted in the mother.

This is absolute insanity! Why any parent in his or her reasonable mind would want to do this is beyond me. There different reasons why this is wrong, the most important of which is God. I believe couples who do this are simply playing God, and we know what results from doing that. Forget all the scientific XY chromosomes, I say God is the one who determines sex of a baby. I mean he created Adam and Eve for a reason right? Imagine how different history would be if parents of many great men and women had chosen to go the other way. Wait, there is more.
